What should I bring and how should I pack for my pet's boarding stay?
OUR GOAL FOR YOUR PET'S STAY:
We want your pet's stay with us to be happy and enjoyable!
Familiar items from home can help with this, especially for first-timers.
Does your pet have a favorite bed, blankie, or favorite toys? Bring them!
You're also welcome to bring any other comfort items, or an item of your clothing with your smell on it!
Bring their food and favorite treats. Bring their supplements and medications.
MAKING IT FEEL LIKE HOME:
For cats, we have plenty of cat scratcher posts but you're also welcome to bring their favorite post or lounger from home!
Does your cat love chasing a laser pointer? You can bring that too!
LABELING: Label all solid surface items with your pet's first and last name - this includes can lids, scoops, measuring cups, boxes, bags, bins, bowls, containers etc.
Please see our requirements below for more information and how to pack.
WHAT KINDS OF FOOD CAN I BRING AND HOW SHOULD I PACK THEM?
- We accept all kinds of food: kibble, canned, packets, refrigerated, and even frozen to be thawed home-made, etc.
- We just ask that all kibble come in airtight containment such as ziplock bags or containers with lids. Please do not bring unopened bags of dog food from the store that do not have self contained air-tight ziplocks on them.
- If your kibble comes in something that is not airtight, we'll purchase a container for you that will be added to your bill and sent home with you.
- The same goes for any purchased biscuits or treats that are simply packed in a box without a bag or any airtight containment. Please move those treats to a ziplock bag.
- Label all items with your pet's first and last name - this includes can lids, scoops, measuring cups, boxes, bags, bins, etc.
- Mealtimes are in the morning between 7am-8am and in the afternoon between 5pm-6pm. If your dog only eats once a day, just let us know if it's morning or afternoon.
- Please know that "free feeding" is not something we are comfortable doing. In other words, if you just fill a bowl in the morning and leave it till your pet eats all of it before filling it again (sometimes the next day) we prefer to provide a measured amount of food daily that we give at a specific mealtime. This is so we can monitor if your pet is eating well or not. Any uneaten food at the next mealtime is thrown away and the bowl refreshed.
WHAT KINDS OF TREATS CAN I BRING AND HOW SHOULD I PACK THEM?
- We accept biscuits, cookies, jerky, freeze dried treats, etc
- We accept veggies and fruit as well, as long as species appropriate
- Please bring treats in air-tight containment such as ziplock bags and label the containment with your pet's first and last name.
- WE CANNOT ACCEPT treats that pose risk of injury or choking such as rawhide, horns, hooves, bones (cooked or uncooked).
- WE CANNOT ACCEPT toxic items that contain chocolate or xylitol.
- We also ask that you avoid bringing any treats that might cause stomach upset such as those containing BHT or BHA as preservative or "bendable" treats that contain Propylene Glycol.
- If your pet has allergy/sensitivity issues it's best to avoid any treats with dyes such as Red 40 and Yellow 5 and 6.
- Please do not bring any new treats/chew items that you've purchased but never given your dog before.
WILL YOU GIVE MY PET THEIR MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTS AND IS THERE A CHARGE FOR THIS?
- Yes! Absolutely bring all medications and supplements routinely given at home.
- There is no charge for administering a reasonable amount of medications/supplements.
- We do charge a $10 nightly extra fee for time consuming/complicated regimens, timed insulin injections, or more in depth wellness needs such as bandage changes.
- Please fill out our Medication/Supplements/Treatments Form before your pet's arrival.
- Bring all Medications in their original/prescribed containers.
- Label all jars, wipes, spray bottles, bags of pill pockets etc. with your dog's first and last name.
- If you use pill pockets, peanut butter, cheese, etc to administer medications, please bring that and we will administer it the same way you do at home.
- If you would prefer for us to use our own pill pockets, we can add them to your bill.
- Please do NOT remove prescribed medications from their foil packets. If the medication is prescibed that way, it means it's preserved in that manner to prevent air/sunlight until use. Taking it out of its packet and putting it into a different container can change its potency.
- We also ask that you not "pre-load" pills or tablets into moist items such as peanut butter, pill pockets, or any other "wrap" that might deteriorate the enteric coating on medications
WHAT IF MY PET USES POTTY PADS, DIAPERS, BELLY BANDS OR SOMETHING SIMILAR AT HOME?
- Please bring enough disposable potty pads for the duration of the boarding stay and we will change them out when used.
- If your pet uses potty pads at home but you forget to bring them, we can provide them and add them to your bill.
- If your pet uses cloth belly bands, cloth diapers, washable potty pads, towels, or another type of cloth to relieve themselves at home, we would prefer you bring disposable items. If we need to frequently launder washable materials, there is an extra surcharge.
- If your dog uses an artificial turf tray, there may be an extra surcharge for thorough cleanings and change outs of the turf mats.
- For dogs only: If your dog uses a dog litter box, please bring enough litter for us to clean it out twice daily! There may be an extra surcharge for frequent/thorough cleanings and change outs in order to keep our facility odor-free.
