OUR HISTORY
Opened in July 2005 as a small facility geared
at personalized boarding and holistic grooming, the superior care and attention provided for each pet has established loyal clientelle with a high referral rate. We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust as well as the trust of your pet, as we deliver the utmost in pet care standards.
The Pine Trees: Melinda's grandfather owned this land in Joshua back in the late 60's/early 70's. The state of Texas had a state forestry program and gave my grandfather hundreds of tiny pine tree switches to plant. He planted them all around his 5 acres. They are currently about 100 ft tall and provide us with tons of shade, along with some scary nights if we ever have a high wind storm or a heavy ice storm. They have gotten so tall that at times we fear the branches breaking off. In 2009 we outgrew our original location next door to Melinda's home. Demand became such that we were turning away many of our regular clientelle because there was no room at the inn. In 2010 we moved into our new location on Broadway and kept the name "The Pines". We have planted a variety of pine in one of our landscaped areas and are excited to watch it grow over the coming years.

Canine Behaviorist - Nutrionist
After 15 years of working in the veterinary field and pet care industry, she is known for her experience in critical care management, caring for geriatric pets, handling difficult behavioral issues, pet nutrition, and most of all, for having a special bond and connection with animals of all kinds. Melinda enjoys providing pet owners with assistance in nutritional and behavioral counseling, new puppy ownership, and even rescue and adoption placements. Her main focus is the health and complete well being of every pet, as well as the ethical and humane treatment of all creatures great and small.
She donates her time to the Joshua Animal Shelter, grooming rescued pets to encourage their adoption. Her rescued rabbit "Teddy" as well as rescued kitty "Onyx" live on premises and love to greet newcomers.
Her pet family, which she shares with Lonnie, includes:

Lonnie Foster, Co-OwnerTechnical, Maintenance, Dog Lover, General Help
Lonnie is Melinda's husband. He shares in her endeavor to provide the best of care to the pets staying at our facility. He is not only partner in the business, but helps walk all boarders during their last walk of the day and on weekends. He is also the mastermind behind all solutions to maintenance issues and we would not be where we are today without him. When he is not busy teaching the Joshua High School band, he can usually be found helping out his wife.
Tiffany Shively, Pet Stylist
Tiffany has a background in the legal field as well as company management. She was a legal secretary who left it all behind to pursue working with animals. Tiffany trained in grooming for a year under Melinda and became a skilled stylist. She has been a very loyal and dedicated member of our team for several years. Her favorite breeds to groom are Schnauzers and Shih Tzus. Her pet family includes:

Cassandra Willenburg, Pet Stylist
Cassandra has many years experience as a pet stylist. She also has shop management experience and great customer service skills. Her favorite breeds to groom are Poodles and Bichons. Her pet family includes:

Kevin Brooks, Pet Care Attendant
Kevin has worked in pet care for several years and was general manager of a boarding and grooming facility previous to coming to work for us. He loves dogs and has a special, quiet way of connecting with them. His pet family include:

Noah Wolff, Puppy Play Pal
Noah is Lonnie and Melinda's son and has been a huge part in taking care of guests since the very beginning. He has learned about the animal world from Melinda and loves to care for and play with all our smaller, younger guests.
