(The review posted below is from May 28, 2010. It is from a new client from Fort Worth who brought her Miniature Schnauzer to us for grooming. We are thrilled that she feels this way about us and that she took the time to review us in such depth. To see pictures of Sam Darlin' before and after, visit our Grooming page. Thank you Ruth!)
"As you all know, I'm "in love" always with my animals so today has been a very special time for me, and I want to share it with all of you in case you ever have need of the same or similar services. My former Sunday School teacher, Barbara Wimm, told me about her daughter who was building a new pet center in a small town near us called Joshua, Texas. Several months ago prior to the finish of the center, I emailed with Melinda Wolff, the daughter, but then I had a mobile grooming lady so it was a while before I really needed someone who would groom. When I called Melinda we agreed on Wednesday of this week for me to travel down and talk to her one on one about Sam Darlin' and see her new place. Melinda is so smart, and she actually takes Wednesday each week to close and do things like the tours and take care of business in general. She is a lovely young woman! You could not look into her beautiful eyes without just falling in love with her. I have had miniature schnauzers as pets as well as in the show rings for more than forty years, and I've had these dogs groomed all over the world so I've been around when it comes to this kind of little dog. Boy, have I seen and smelled some strange things while trying to get proper grooming. WELL!! Wednesday was a really wonderful surprise as The Pines is just about as posh as you can get and it is not only beautiful but is scrupulously clean....AND MOST OF All it is the only place like that that I have ever been where you couldn't smell the dog and cat "stuff" if you know what I mean. Melinda is so educated in regard to the dogs and cats until you almost feel like she should be a vet rather than running a beautiful pet center, but when you talk to her you realize that the animals are serious business with her and she wants the ones who come to her to have the best of everything. My Sam Darlin' went down with me to take the tour and talk with Melinda on Wednesday and he loved her and the place right off. He happily went right with her on a tour of the large and secure area where they walk the dogs.
We had an appointment already for today for him to be fully groomed and for Melinda to set a pattern on him which is what a groomer does initially. They were to call me about thirty or forty minutes before they were finished with him so I'd have time to drive down there and pick him up. We were all excited out here where I live at Legacy to see Sam Darlin' after Melinda had groomed him and believe me we were not disappointed as he looked like a different doggie when he came flying out of the holding area!! He looks beautiful and is groomed like the miniature schnauzer should be. I felt like hugging her as it is so very hard to find anyone who wants quality and will take the time with their customers like Melinda Wolff does!! Her people who work with her there are just as nice and seem very eager about the guests and their work. Oh, yes, and she can even do the hand scaling of your dog's teeth which keeps them in much better health without inflamed gums and teeth with tarter on them. This also means your dog doesn't have to go under anesthesia which is what the vet does when he cleans teeth. Melinda uses the dremmel on the nails also so that when the nails are trimmed they will not remain sharp and scratch you should they jump up on you. That is especially important for the older people who have thin skin and bruise easily like a lot of us do.
Sooo thanks to you all for reading this as you can tell. I'm sure, that I'm really overwhelmed to find this young woman with her beautiful center for dogs and cats. They even have separate wings with suites for the cats down one hall and for the dogs down another hall in the opposite direction with beautiful huge glass windows and all kinds of bells on doors for security. This is all monitored for boarding and each animal has its own area with little beds with white soft blankets....again....you could eat off the floors with confidence!
So if you have need of the best for your "four legged child" for grooming or boarding or just day care, this is the place!!! Melinda calls it The Pines Pet Pampering & Boarding Kennel and it is located at 609 North Broadway in Joshua, Texas. Telephone 817-875-0087 Email- info@thepines pet.com. Thanks for sharing my joy and excitement. Sam Darlin' came home, took a short walk and had a couple of vegetable bistuits. He is now snoring in his bed!!......Ruth & Sam Darlin'

"Hi Melinda and company!
Just a quick note of sincere thanks to you all for your exceptional care and grooming of Bess and Jack yesterday as well as over the years! They are our *kids* not show dogs, but always come home from The Pines happy and looking like (someone else's!) show dogs! Thanks again!"

"Dear Melinda and Pines Staff,
Our Maltipoo Puppy, Layla boarded with you last week, while we vacationed in Colorado. It was hard to leave her behind because she had never been boarded and we didn’t want her to be kept in a kennel. I came by to see your facility and was very impressed and decided this would be the place if I had to leave her. We all missed her while we were gone and I called in every day to check how she was doing and it gave us peace of mind knowing that she was being well cared for. Special thanks to Melinda for the great grooming service, Layla has never looked as nice after her grooming. We have had a bad experience with another local groomer and it was very hard to trust another groomer. Next time there will be no hesitation on where we should leave her. When our kids go back to school we plan on sending her once a week to The Pines for daycare so she can have playtime with other dogs. Thank you all so much, you definitely have a new customer.
Sincerely yours,
The Palomares Family Joshua, TX" with "Layla" (Malti-Poo)
"We were so happy to see our dog Sassy enjoyed her stay with you on her first visit. She was not upset and she did not have the odor that other kennels leave on dogs. Sassy now enjoys her stays with you and has a great time. Sassy will be coming back soon with her new brother, Charlie. I know they will enjoy the loving care and attention you give all your dogs and cats. We look forward to your new facility as it will be a great place."

"Melinda, our Abigail absolutely loves coming to your place. She loves the pampering and I know she likes how she feels afterward. Abigail is very special to us because she was a shelter dog that we adopted almost 5 years ago and she's a part of our family."

"Melinda, Samantha, & Catherine,
I just want to let you know how well pleased Bob and I were when you kept Dolly & Maggie. I was afraid to leave them because they had never been boarded. When I picked them up they were just fine. They did not smell, were not sick, or did not lose weight. I won't hesitate to leave them with you again if the need arises. Thank you very much for caring and loving my little babies.

"Melinda, Thank you so much! We don't come as often as we should with Clifford but when we do come, he comes home feeling great and smelling great! We love that you are so close and so loving to our 4 leg family members :-) "

"Tuesdays are beauty shop days for Xena. She is an intelligent and energetic border collie/ boxer hybrid. She looks forward to these days because Melinda and her staff take such excellent care and interest in Xena. We have been able to travel and have NO concerns or reservations about leaving Xena with Melinda. Always neat, clean, open, airy, a pleasant place for pets and people. Thoughtful pet owners appreciate the loyalty of their pets and have an obligation to do the best for their pets in return. We deeply appreciate Melinda and her commitment to exceptional care of our Xena. We feel safe and comfortable with the mutual respect between Melinda, her staff, our pet and us. With only the most glowing recommendation can we praise Melinda's care of and concern for our Xena."

"The Pines is the only place that I trust with my Yorkie. In fact, I drive from NW of Fort Worth for him to be groomed there! The reason being that Melinda has done everything possible to ensure in her business that the pets' best interest comes first! This is evident in every aspect of The Pines from grooming techniques, set up of the shop, the atmosphere created, the handling of the pets, just everywhere! Not only do I feel completely comfortable leaving my boy here, but he gets the best grooming he has ever received! He always looks smashing! In addition to excellent grooming, Melinda's Nutrition and Behavior Counseling is amazing!! She is very well informed in what she teaches AND she honestly cares about the pets. I feel like my dog's health has benefited tremendously from applying the things that she has taught me. I would and do recommend The Pines to anyone with any type of pet for any of their services!"

“Melinda, I have never seen my dog looking so nice after being groomed. I have taken him many places over the years but never has he looked like he did when he was returned yesterday. I actually didn't know he could look so nice since he has never been groomed in such a manner. Thank you all so much and you definitely have a new customer.

Melinda, Thanks so much for taking such good care of Mitzi. She really enjoyed the pampering! I appreciate how you straightened out her feeding routine. She loves the Pet Promise dog food. She is bright-eyed, energetic, healthy. Her coat is glossy; her breath and coat no longer smell bad and her dry skin and allergies are gone. I will certainly spread the word about your services.

Thank you so much for always taking such good care of Luke. Also thank you for the Christmas treat he received during his last stay. He walks around the house all the time with his new toy and is so proud of it! You make leaving him such an easy thing because I know he enjoys it so much!

I have two large German Shepherds, both are high maintenance related to grooming and boarding. Melinda and her staff are excellent and well qualified to provide sterling care for my babies. Please be aware that because of their excellent care and reputation they stay booked far in advance. Scheduling the next appointment when you check out of the today's appointment is the best way to stay on track. I would not take them anywhere else. We actually plan our vacations around availability at The Pines. The level of service at The Pines Pet Pampering & Boarding is fantastic. Having been a customer for many years, I am consistently impressed by the professionalism of every staff member I have come in contact with. Thank you!”
